WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
The East Cheshire Inter Club Shield (ECICS) Committee is a Golf Community run by a committee of
volunteers for the competitive enjoyment of amateur ladies golf.
The committee arranges matches between clubs located in East Cheshire who are affiliated to the Cheshire
County Ladies Golf Association.
Clubs are divided into groups so that each Club plays a Home and Away match against each Club in the
Group. The leading four teams in each group shall play a Quarter Final, usually in August, with the winning
two teams playing a Semi-final in September the winners of which, play in the Final for the East Cheshire
Shield Trophy. The Winners of the East Cheshire League then play the Winners of the West Cheshire League
in the East v West Competition, usually in October for the East v West Trophy.
Due to the current level of entries, the winners of the A Team rounds go straight through to Semi-finals.
The Committee was founded in 1975 and is financed by entry fees collected annually in September, in
advance of the season starting in March the following year. The draw for the matches is made at the AGM
which is held in October at the home club of the Chair person.
We currently have around 100 teams from 40 clubs playing in the league.
The association is administered by a Committee consisting of :
Chair person - one year tenure, to be nominated in club alphabetical order, if no volunteer
Secretary - two year tenure, to be nominated in club alphabetical order, if no volunteer
Treasurer - two year tenure, to be nominated in club alphabetical order, if no volunteer
Match Co-ordinators for A,B, Plate and Business Ladies teams serving for two years.
Match Co-ordinators shall be nominated from playing members of handicap teams with nominations taken
from clubs in alphabetical order, if there is no volunteer for the role.
If you are interested in volunteering for one of these roles we would be delighted to hear from you – just
contact our Secretary via your Club Match Secretary.
If you would like to play in the league, please contact the Match Secretary at your Golf Club.
